I am a firm believer in the power of a good mascara and a good coverage BB cream, my go-to for a while now has been Its Cosmetics in the shade deep. The brand has really good coverage and the formula they have seems to blend into my different skin shades naturally.Read More

Summer is coming to a screeching halt with school starting for most and going to start this upcoming week for others. I have already started to get Fall inspired styles and makeup looks ready for you guys over on the blog and this is the first look I have ready.

I have watched so many videos over the years that I knew I wanted to have my own channel one day but I wasn’t sure I wanted to put myself out there.
It is really scary, but my friends kept urging me to do it and I knew that eventually I needed to put my nerves to the side and make the jump.
Especially when my niece is telling me I have no excuses I knew it was time to do it.Read More
Finally! I was able to get around to using the Tarte Cosmetics: Be a Mermaid and Make Waves Palette and I am so, so in love. This buy far is one of my favorite palettes, I absolutely love when a palette will come with matte shades along with some shimmer. I am not an avid user of shimmer shades but I am slowly introducing them into my makeup routine and while I don't love them for certain looks, I do love playing with them.Read More

hello there, loves!
I am back today with this beautiful transition of pinks! I recently went to The Orlando Salon to update my locks and Orlando did this beautiful transition of pinks in my hair. I just knew that I had to pay homage to his beautiful work and do a make up look to compliment the hair.
I used my new morphe 3502 Second Nature Palette that finally was restocked at my local Ulta, and created some beautiful transitional pinks. I also used my first eye shadow palette ever the Naked Palette to get some of the pinks with shimmer.
Now I am typically not a shimmery kind of girl but I knew that I needed to add some to this look because if the sun hits my hair at the right spots I can really see some shimmer in the color.
Orlando does an amazing job on my hair and I remember when I first started going to him he busted out this make up brush to blend my hair color and I was like, this guy is going to do great things because he isn't the norm. He doesn't try to fit in some box and I love that about him.

This is so far out of my comfort zone I am still considering not posting this.
If you follow me you know that I am not great with make-up I mean I can't even do a good smokey eye. But I enjoy the palettes that I have been purchasing and the alone time in my beauty room.
Needless to say, when J went down for his nap today I was trying to go for a pineapple look. I had these earrings that were coming in and with summer right around the corner I knew it would be absolutely perfect.
Well somewhere things went slightly left and right and I ended up with this gorgeousness. I threw on a kimono I had hanging in my extra closet and called it a day.
It reminded me of a mermaid so that is what I am running with.
I have a few make up looks coming to you loves in the next couple of weeks and I am so excited.
I have finally been able to get my thoughts and life in order, since I started using oils and if you haven't read that post you can here.
I would absolutely love to know your thoughts on this look!

I am so excited to bring this look to the blog today, I received these earrings in my swag bag from our #toast2texas girls getaway and couldn't wait to do a makeup tutorial to go with them. You can say I was inspired! : D
I just love all of the colors and even though they are really large, they aren't that heavy. They are perfect for girls night out,, date night, or even just the random run to the grocery store when you want to feel a little #extra as my girl Lauren from Toast from the Host likes to say.

I was scrolling through one of my under-utilized social medias and found this quote up there and it couldn't be more relevant to my life.
I recently took these photos of a beauty look I was hoping to achieve and it totally went in the wrong direction, the light from the day faded and I didn't have the colors I needed to photograph the "look" I thought I wanted. I got something much, much more though.
This blogging thing has been pretty frustrating for me the past couple of years solely because I am refusing to sell myself short and do the entire loop bloggers, follow unfollow thing that all the bloggers do.
I also don't have a lot of support from people who already know me and sometimes I just get totally burnt out when trying to build my followers, but I don't just want people who tap, I want the conversation starters, the lovers and the genuine people that will actually get something from my content and live better lives.
Making a difference here is so much more important to me.
If I make someone feel better, or love themselves more that makes me happier than a bunch of likes on a social media account.
One day my husband told me why don't you just do it for fun and see where it goes, forget about earning money and at first it really pissed me off because I felt like he just didn't understand. Not bringing in an income after leaving my job was tough, I felt useless.
But he was so right. Please don't tell him I said this. Because he is wrong and I am always right.
I can't do what everyone else is doing and expect to stand out because I never will. I have to create something that is all me, all the time.
Of course, I would love, love to at least pay for my makeup and clothing expenses with funds from this year blog because momma loves her some clothes & trying new make-up but what will be, will be. Put it out in the world and it will happen right?
Also shout out to @girrlscout for being one of those inspiring people I have followed for a while now, who made me feel like I could be me and that falling in love with myself was something that was needed not only wanted.

Hello there, loves!
I know how hectic getting ready everything can be with Valentine's Day, planning is normally on the Mom, girlfriend, and wife end of the spectrum. If we celebrate it, it is because I had something in mind and E just has to go along for the ride.
This year, with J we will definitely be eating at home but I also wanted to make sure that I dressed J up and got some cute shots of him in his outfit. He has a lot of ladies in his life and I love sending them his little pictures and getting their responses that are like, awwww!!!
Well last week I was able to finally get him dressed and capture a couple of photos of the both of us. I was running around like a mad women but I made it happen and I am so glad.
I have the bad habit of not doing something because I think of all the work required to do it and then get tired before I even do any of it.
I know it is hard for us mom's to always have a full face of makeup let alone any make up at all, and blending, highlighting and contouring can make trying to get ready feel like a daunting non-doable task that no one wants to do, especially me.

Since a bold red lip can go a really, really long way you don't always have to go do all that extra stuff, unless of course you have the time or a make-up artist on hand. I didn't and I don't.
You always wants to moisturize, I also at times will use Maybelline's pore eraser, then apply foundation, concealer, brow product if needed and some mascara.
Raise your hand if you are a makeup hoarder.
I definitely love makeup especially when I get it on a special or have a coupon for it. I love going to the store and ending up in the makeup section. I know it just happens right. I mostly hoard mascara and lipstick so I am very guilty of keeping items way past their validity date.
Today I am going over all of the things you should throw out and when?
Mascara has the ability to harbor tons of bacteria, your lashes are literally there to protect your eye from debris. So if its job is to stop debris from entering the eye then you know that it will collect bacteria from time to time. Since mascara is directly applied to the lashes and then the applicator is put back into the tube you are bound to have a build up of bacteria. In order to avoid any type of infections or irritation, it is best to throw out your mascara after 3 months of usage.
It is recommended to discard your lipsticks after one year, once you start to see the little water drop like bumps on the top of your lipstick it is time to throw it out. Lipsticks can last less than a year if you use them while sick with direct application. It is recommended to use an applicator while sick but honestly, who wears lipstick when they are sick?
Typically if it is in powder form and you clean your brushes or beauty blenders properly and often any of your powder items should last you two years. That is why it is detrimental to make sure all of your applicators are cleaned properly, I know I know it is terribly difficult to keep your brushes cleaned and I have heard stories of people who have NEVER washed their brushes. It happens and they never have a break out or they do and blame it on something else.
Powder / Liquid Foundation
2 Years / 1 Year
Depending on how you apply it, if you use your fingers a lot then it is best to throw away a little earlier than a year. But if you use regularly washed brushes then it can last a year. Liquid Foundations, when stored in a cool, dry place without direct sunlight, will last a year before it starts to separate once you start to see it separate discard it. Powder foundations depending on how they are applied, can last you up to two years
According to this article on InStyle.com you should throw out your nail polish after 1 year as long as it is stored properly. I found a great blog post on how to store nail polish properly, definite must read. I honestly don't. : | I do all of the wrongs of that post and I don't throw out my polish after just one year. I haven't even used any of them within the year that I bought them. Sad I know.
That is a big difference 1-5 years, but your brushes can last longer depending on the quality and the way you take care of them. If you have higher quality brushes and you clean then daily [if used daily] then your brushes can last much longer. If you don't wash your brushes [guilty!] then you can get a good year out of them and after probably need to throw them out to avoid bacteria build up [I believe which can contribute to break outs].
Johnson baby shampoo is a good tool to use for cleaning your brushes. Desi Perkins has a great YouTube video on washing your brushes, you can find it here.

When do you discard your makeup products? Are you guilty of hoarding like I do?
