Most weekends we don't have the pleasure of spending much down time alone together, we are normally catching up with family, or doing all of the things adults have to do.

On Sunday, we went to eat lunch at Lee's Fried Chicken and Donuts, if you visit definitely try their Bacon, Onion, Jalapeno Marmelade, the Sweet Sriracha Syrup, and the Poblano Sauce.  We will have to visit again ourselves minus J, he was well-behaved it is just entirely too hard to stay clean while eating fried chicken and trying to feed a little one at the same time.

Then we came home and relaxed.  We let J run wild upstairs (and it literally looks like a tornado hit our upstairs living room and his bedroom) until he literally crawled on both of us and fell asleep.

E took a much needed nap and I tried to nap but as soon as I finally fell asleep his alarm went off making sure we didn't waste our entire day sleeping, but it wouldn't have hurt to sleep a little longer.

Here are a couple of snaps from our day, plus outfit details below.

You guys I am so excited to share this post with y'all today!
I finally got myself a remote trigger and have been able to take my own photos.  E is always so busy and I would get so mad that I don't have one of those IG husbands that every one talks about.

I knew I had to do something because I was ready to take my blog photography to the next level and I kept promising my loyal readers that I would.  So it was definitely time to actually work on it.

J and I had so much fun - OKAY, I am lying here.

He had fun picking up rocks and running from mom while I tried desperately to get good photos of him.  I just had fun editing these.

I lucked out by having a big girl camera because of wedding and portrait photography so I have to use it to my advantage.

This is a really old dress that has been hanging in my closet for years, my weight was the worst before J and I wasn't ever able to drop the weight Ill chalk it up to happiness. But this beauty was just hanging in my closet and I am so glad to finally wear it.

I love to pair things with a simple pump, these are Steve Madden Daisie Classic Pumps and they are one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

I didn't add any accessories because if you know anything about having a little one less is more.  Your earrings will have to come out, and your necklace will have to come off.

If you do want to pair this with a cute earring I suggest these from Shop Morning Lavender
If you want a simple make up look like mine, then check out my 7 Product Make Up Look.  It is my normal every day make up with a red lip.

What is that, Velvet?

If you have ever watched "Coming to America" you can appreciate the title of this post, and my humor for that matter πŸ˜‚. I was raised with boys forgive me.

I recently saw a blogger post wearing a velvet jumpsuit and I absolutely loved it. I know it isn't really mommy like to wear velvet but we all still get to do date night once in a while right?  And if not you can always spruce up your mommy wardrobe while accessorizing or accentuating with velvet.

I found a couple of items that I fell in love with to add a little velvet to your life this fall.

Please for the sake of all things mommy, don't go out wearing all things velvet and then say I told you it would look amazing, that's not what I am saying.

So let me break it down, if you wear velvet pants DO NOT, I repeat do not wear a velvet top.  A basic tee will work, wear leather loafers or pumps and put your hair up in a bun.  Piece velvet items together with none velvet items, the days are over where you should be wearing all velvet.

A little sometimes can go a long way especially with the velvet trend, that is why I added in the shirt with a velvet pocket and a clutch these are items that will accent your outfit, and keep you on trend while potentially be your statement piece.

Oh and don't forget you can totally detail your house with velvet items like dining room chairs. My tip would be to only use them at the head and end of the table, all velvet may be a bit much unless you are going for the 70's vibe then it would totally work in your favor.

You know those things that aren't just weather related but life related.

It has been a little hectic around the house lately, and I am trying to get things back under control.

Our lovely puppy Max [or Diesel] decided he to chew through our internet lines which resulted in me not being able to get post going but I am currently using my Verizon Hot Spot and I hope my bill isn't insanely high next month because of it. Let's just hope it is included.

That folks is called dedication, lol.

With all of the hectic-ness going on, I decided I wanted to create a few printables that have been helping me keep things in order around the house, somewhat.  I am going to create a small library and continuously add new items, these of course will be free if you sign up for the new letter the link will be provided.

If you haven't signed up for the newsletter you can find it over in the side bar or at the bottom of this post, I will start sending out weekly updates on blog post and upcoming events, or big news there first. I know I have said this before but J is finally letting me put him down more often and he is finding his toys much more intriguing than me.

I have a lot of plans for this little blog of mine in the future and I can't wait to get started on all of it but for now I need to get my house organized and a meal plan set up.  If you have meal planning tips or recipes, please send them my way.

I recently had a really big hair change and if you don't keep up with me on my instagram you definitely should, it is where I post a few behind the scenes, or things as they happen.

We will be in Galveston again on Tuesday so don't forget to check my insta-stories for more of that.

Thank you for reading my little slice of the world, I can't wait to see what the future brings for this little blog of mine.

Nights like these.

Lately, I have noticed that I am getting a lot of inspiration at night mostly after I should be asleep because the sweet baby of mine will be waking up in a few short hours for one of his night feedings.

A few post back I showed you guys a few bites from my night out with my girl Stacy over at The Hurried Hostess but what I left out was my outfit of the night.

I haven't done much shopping [correction: I hadn't done much shopping] and a lot of things still don't fit great since having J, so I had to put something together hoping it would fit nicely.  I have had this top for a couple of years and it possibly could be the first or second time I have worn it like ever.

I'm really bad about buying things and never wearing them, I have a ton of stuff with price tags still on them πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ and my husband is going to kill me when he reads this.

I am proud of myself that to say the least, I fit in it without any spanx! Yas girl, Yas!  πŸ™ŒπŸ½

The past weekend E and I spent some alone time to celebrate his 1st Father's Day, we dropped J and headed over to Galveston.  A few years ago we dropped E's mom off to her cruise and we decided to head over to Willie G's and so this year we decided to return.

The view was beautiful and the trip to Galveston reminded us of how we use to spend so much time just traveling around our city.  It was nice to have some alone time but we both missed J so much.

Before we left the island I had E stop and snap my outfit for me, because you know this is how you really should spend your Father's Day, LOL. He loves me way too much.

High-Waisted Bikini

hello there, loves.

Today I am talking about a little self love.  This past weekend I found myself in a bikini.

I am currently going into my 5th month Post-Partum and I am a little upset with myself.  I am currently about 5lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight and I still at times feel like I still look enormous.  I have always loved my legs and now I see them in this picture and I am like πŸ™ˆ.

I thought I would've lost more weight by now and while I am constantly wanting women to be very proud of their bodies and what they have done, will do, and so forth. I am currently not loving mine πŸ˜’.

I recently picked up this high-waisted πŸ‘™ bikini from Old Navy and while it covers all the "necessary" areas, I still can't help but feel like it could fit way better than it does.

I recently ordered a couple of summer items and I had to size up on a few things which doesn't matter to me, it is all about how I look and feel. Sometimes I feel great and I feel like I am making such progress in eating better [I have my moments of indulgences, like there is currently a gallon of sweet tea in the fridge πŸ™„] and sometimes I am super good.

The problem is adding in working out into my already super busy schedule.  Mommy-ing is hard and you have to literally plan your entire day accordingly.  For instance, when J goes down for this naps I have to think about what I am going to do and in the order I am going to do it in.  There is no longer do things when you feel like it.  Your every move is planned, at least if you want to remain sane to some extent.  In my case, I am still completely insane and losing my mind at times but each day gets better. But where there is a will there is a way.

Don't read this assuming I am complaining about being a mother, I am not.  I am totally praying for all the people who are currently in the shoes we were just a few short months ago.  I am very happy every day that I am a mother and that J is ours, we are seriously blessed.  I love every little piece of him, seriously.

I just kind of hate my body right now, and that has nothing to do with the fact that I had a baby it is mostly just my self esteem at times.

But the other day I found myself calling myself fat and didn't realize my niece was around and she heard me.  And when she told me I wasn't fat, it was at that very moment I wish I could've re-winded and taken the words right back out of my mouth.  πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Talk about face palm moment.

We as women have to stop putting ourselves down.  We have to stop being to judgmental of each other, and we have to stop speaking down to ourselves.  I am my own worst critic. If you have said something about me trust that I have probably said it to myself already.  You're just as an asshole if you have and so am I.

Start loving yourself ladies.  There is enough BS going on in the world that we don't have to be mean to one another or ourselves for that matter in order to get around in the world.

I challenge you each day point out something beautiful about yourself.  I have always loved my eyes πŸ‘€.

What is your beautiful? Β

The Tee Basics | How to Style your Basic Tees

This post does contain affiliate links which I may earn a commission on. The below is still a direct reflection of how I love basic tees and bitches for that matter.

I am an absolute lover of basic tees, I won't go as far as calling myself a basic bitch but your girl loves her some basics tees.

If I could find the perfect white basic tee, I would buy one tee 5 times just so I'd have one to wear for the "work week". I guess I am pretty basic after all.

Anyways if you are basic like myself and love your basic tees then today I am giving you a couple of options on styling them.

You can go from leggings to cut off shorts to Panama hats to baseball hats, your basic tee is something no girl should leave behind it is kind of the perfect mauve lip for all occasions. Whether it is a girls trip or vacationing with your boo pack yourself a basic tee and use my guide to help yo self out.

Option One: Pair your perfect leggings with a hat or some shades and some runnings shoes.

Option Two:  Scoop up your favorite loungers pair that with a Panama hat and your go-to strappy sandals, top it off with a cute anklet and boom your ready for the perfect walk on the beach.

Option Tres: Distressed shorts, a pair of new white converse, baseball cap with the perfect backpack purse and you are good to go.

Option Four: Skinny Jeans, distressed are my favs, some chunky sandals, a cute simple necklace and your perfect shades and we are ready for some brunching.

How do you style your basic tees?

Is My Head Straight?

I promised better pictures so my hubby has been taking some of my photos lately and even though they aren't the most instagram worthy photos, they are my favorite.   I mean where can you get quality like this guys?

This is me asking him "Is my head is straight?" πŸ™„, and him snapping away.  Of course.

If you read my Girrl Scout post last week this is the shirt I picked up from that haul and I love it, definitely visit her site

I was so glad when my bestie text me that she was coming into town because the last time I saw her in person we were both exhausted with newborn babies.  I could barely move and they stayed across town but this weekend her family stayed with my family and it was nice to have a house full of people.  I almost always never get photos of us while she is here because we are always just doing and we always forget to get pictures of us.  : \

They arrived in town on Friday night and we were exhausted from work, so we ordered pizza, relaxed and just chatted for a while.  Saturday she had a baptism to attend which I tagged along to because isn't that what best friends are for, lol.  Then Sunday we headed to get crawfish at The Crawfish Shack in Crosby if you haven't tried it, it is a definite must.

A couple of weekends ago, I went with my other friend to RA sushi and I was so in love with this Mango Margarita they served, so we attempted to recreate it at home.  I'd say it was a success but I could've used some more Tequila.  : D
